The purpose of Fellowship of Christian Musicians at SHSU is to unite all Christians in the School of Music to advance the cause of Christ within the School of Music and the performing arts world as a whole.
1. Soli Deo Gloria. We are musicians and artists who recognize that our creative abilities are beautiful gifts given to us by the Creator, and part of being made in His image. We seek to be good stewards of these gifts by pursuing excellence in all aspects of our art with diligence, our goal being ever to glorify God and uplift the hearts of those who hear us.
2. Fellowship. By uniting under one name and one common cause, we hope be an encouragement and inspiration to each other as we learn to live out our faith in the culture of the arts, worshipping together and supporting one another in prayer and fellowship.
3. Service. We believe that faith is not just a set of beliefs, but an active way of life. Therefore we strive to follow the example set by our Lord Jesus Christ and reach out to others in love and voluntary servitude by engaging in meaningful service, whether as a group or in our everyday lives.
We are music-makers—and with Christ as our Lord and divine Maestro, our dream is to be movers and shakers of the world in which we live.
